Kerala is a state located in southwestern India. Considered one of the most beautiful regions of the world - the National Geographic Traveler magazine has proclaimed it as one of the “Ten Paradises of the World” and among the "50 Most Desirable Destinations." Known popularly as "God's Own Country", Kerala has everything: mountains and valleys with dense forests teeming with wildlife (elephants, tigers, bears, boars, monkeys, bison, deer and snakes), rivers, lakes, backwaters and lagoons, great beaches and a friendly and educated people. Kerala is also known as Spiceland and is a major producer of pepper, cardomom, ginger, turmeric etc. Thousands of Malayalees - as the people of Kerala are called - have made Canada their home.

The Persian Gulf, in the Southwest Asian region(The Middle East), is an extension of the Indian Ocean located between Iran and the Arabian Peninsula. Countries with a coastline on the Persian Gulf are (clockwise, from the north): Iran, Oman (exclave of Musandam), United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar on a peninsula off the Saudi coast, Bahrain on an island, Kuwait and Iraq in the northwest. The region is one of the richest in the world because of its oil resources.
